One can only imagine how many times a day, somewhere in the nation, two cars crash into each other on the highway. It’s a fact that it happens all too often in Alabama. Sometimes, those involved escape unscathed. In many motor vehicle accidents, however, drivers and passengers in two (or more) vehicles are injured.

Crashes involving children are especially tragic. An incident occurred close to 10:30 a.m. on a recent Monday. A 41-year-old man was traveling with his 3-year-old son when suddenly the two became involved in a collision with another car. A 36-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy occupied that vehicle. The toddler’s father passed away at the scene.

The decedent’s son was transported to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment. Sadly, he later succumbed to his injuries as well. The young boy in the other car was also injured, but the man driving that particular vehicle suffered no injuries at all.

Many people in Alabama will obviously be mourning the loss of these lives. When fatal collisions occur, those who survive the victims often take such matters to civil court by filing wrongful death claims against parties deemed responsible. No amount of compensation can replace a human life; however, families often face undue financial hardship following serious motor vehicle accidents, and pursuing monetary judgment against negligent motorists is a viable means for alleviating some of that strain. Compensation awarded in successful cases can be used to pay medical bills, funeral expenses and provide reimbursement other accident-related losses.
